BQC - Desert Client instructions

Introduction This document will give a short overview of BQC - Desert. This is a beta release and is limited to read only access. Dependent on the feedback and our spare time we will develop this software. For using BQC - Desert you have to: have a running internet connection, have installed Java Web Start be registered at Borland Developer Network.   Login Select file - > login from the menu or use the Login Button from the toolbar. Enter your email-adress (as login) and password. If you know your community ID, enter the ID (as login) and activate the checkbox with community ID (see illustration). Note: If your connection to the Internet runs through a proxy or a firewall, configure the connection first. Proxy/firewall settings can be done with Preferences.   Preferences Select file -> settings from the menu. In this dialog you can configure BQC - Desert. Network If you are using a proxy or a firewall for your internet connection, activate the checkbox use proxy and enter following data for your internet connection. field data required host IP adress or name of your proxy server yes port port of your proxy server yes user username for your proxy server only, if required password password for your proxy server only, if required If you are using a HTTP or socks proxy, follow the same steps on the corresponding tab Note: After changing the proxy settings the software needs to be restartet Report count Here you can confine the count of reports, to be read from the server field meaning no limit all reports will be read. maximum maximum amount of reports to be read. don't ask me again activate this checkbox, if you don't want to be bothered with this question anymore. Configuration The Button show as XML will display the configuration as XML. The Button delete ALL will reset all configuration settings previously made. Note: delete ALL is disabled in the current version.   Exit Select file -> exit from the menu or user Exit Button from toolbar. If you confirm this dialog while you were logged in, you will be logged out. Warning: if you have logged in with the web client, your web client session will be invalid.   Main window After successfully logged in the main window will change its appearence. Some menu items will be active and three areas on the main window will get visible: Area Browsing Tree Is placed on the top left of the main window. It will display the areas on the BQC server. Select an area to read all reports in this area and all its subareas. Search Results Tree Is placed on the bottom left of the main window. The results of your search will be saved here. Select an item to display the results in the Report Table. Report Table Is placed on the right side of the main window. It will display an overview of reports. To view the Report Details of a report, doubleclick on the report. The sortorder of the table can be modified by doubleclicking on a column header. In the status bar you will find information about the currently selected area and the working status. The cancel button on right side of the status bar is active when long lasting jobs are in progress. The position and dimension of the main window will be saved on exit.   See here, how the application appears after an example search.   Menue After the login following menu items will be enabled: report The entries are temporarily disabled. search Several search criterias, the results will be displayed in Search Results Tree: report report by id report by author report by status report by platform report by type report by serverity report duplicate audits for report community ID exist recent Recently changed. All dialogs have the same appearence. The results will be displayed in Search Results Tree. top voted top rated newest reports modified reports closed reports newest comments comment replies my own Own reports, votes, information, etc. The results will be displayed in Search Results Tree. tracked reports my reports reports with my votes reports with active votes reports with my comments reports with workarounds my ratings unrated statistics my information   Report Details This window will display all details of a report. With the buttons first, last, prior and next you can navigate through the reports of the current Report Table. On the tabs you can obtain serveral details on the report. Changing to another report wil not change the active tab. The position and dimension of this window will be saved on exit. Info Common information on the report. Description Detailed description. Steps Steps to reproduce the problem. Workaround Description of a workaround. Comments Comments of users (as tree). Attachments Attachments, displayed in a table. By right click, the file can be saved on the local maschine. Resolutions Changes on report status with comments.
